The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre is a part of the shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal’s Shri C. B. Patel Research Centre Trust registered under Public Trust Act. The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre is created and designed to conduct biokinetic studies especially studies involving bioavailaibility and bioequivalence of drugs.
The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre is well equipped, both in terms of equipment, analytical laboratory, a ward for admission of volunteers and professional personnel to carry out bioequivalence study. The ward for admission of volunteers has 12 beds. The ward is equipped with refrigerator and recreational facilities for volunteers e.g. a T.V. set, and indoor games.
The analytical section consists of a fully equipped laboratory with complete equipments such as HPLC, G.C., I.R., Spectrophotometer, UV-vis Spectrophotometer etc. A complete list of equipment is attached. Dr. A. M. Bhagwat is appointed full-time Principal Investigator and Dr. Supriya Save and Dr. I. C. Bhoir has been appointed as Joint Investigators. The clinical section is looked after by Dr. Chandi Gupta. He has had more than 25 years’ experience as a Physician and Pharmacologist in the industry. A brief biodata of all concerned are attached.
The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre is within 2 km of the Nanavati Hospital – a large general hospital, the services of which would be available as and when required. The Centre also has medical doctors for examination of volunteers before inclusion and during the biokinetic studies.
The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre has an Ethics Committee. The details of the set-up of the SPC Biokinetic Study Centre are enclosed.
SPC Biokinetic Study Centre always follows good clinical and good laboratory practices. The Centre has been approved by the Drug Controller General, India, to undertake Bioequivalence studies on protocol to protocol basis. The SPC Biokinetic Study Centre is an integral part of the C.B.Patel Research Centre for Chemistry and Biological Sciences, a registered Trust, recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) and also by the University of Mumbai to register students for M.Sc. (By Research) and Ph.D. programmes.
- To conduct applied research, at the interface of chemistry and bioscience, on problems of national importance and to carry out time-bound contractual R & D work for industry, with confidentiality and secrecy agreement; and finally, to train and develop scientists and technologists of industry or academia, through workshops, apprenticeship, etc.
- To develop products, processes, quality-assay methods for the chemical, pharmaceutical and bioscience-based industries, through multidisciplinary research; the interface of chemistry and biological science will provide the locus for team effort.
